Universal Questions of Scientific Import

Today, during the course of my work day, I happened to go by an ex-girlfriend on the street. We didn't make eye contact, and I'm pretty sure she never even saw me. My question, which I have been mulling over throughout the day is this, "We pass by people all day every day. Some of them we may meet later in life, but for the time being they are in consequential. Now, through fate, we meet this person, fall in love, spend an indeterminable time together, no longer see each other for whatever reason, and go on living our lives. Why when I saw her did I feel a longing for someone who I associate more with hurt than happiness? Someone who just a little over a year ago was one of those people I pass by every day. I'm sure we passed at some point before we met because her workplace is right next to McDonalds LOL.

Anyways, I just needed to let that loose. I've been a bit melancholy all evening. The music countdown is now at 2557, and fittingly for tonight, John Mellencamp's "Lonely 'Ol Night" is playing.
