Words

I can't think of anything to post, so here are some words that I joined together.

The unseen debris
Which floats over me
Is the dust of the trust
It never settles
I'm alone and the phone
Never keeps me company
And the company I keep
Doesn't dig too deep
When it comes to the debris

There are infinite possibilities presented in a lifetime
The chance to pet a cat by the side of the road
To gaze up at the stars and wonder
A butterfly flaps it's wings on the other side of the world
We pass so many people on the streets each day
Maybe with each passing day we are passing each other by
There are infinite possibilities presented in a lifetime
Never be afraid to take the leap of faith

See you when I see you.

Rain + Beach = Solitude

It was raining for most of the day today so the kids and I headed down to Witty's Lagoon to play on the beach. We had the beach to ourselves the entire time. It was a lot of fun!! It doesn't really matter if the water comes from the sea or the sky, you're gonna get wet!

We came back here for dinner and a couple of movies. We watched "The Pacifier", which was OK but no more than OK, and one of my favorites "James and the Giant Peach". The kids really enjoyed the movies, and the entire day. We sure laughed a lot, and that is one of the best feelings in the world.

The second day of the open house was today and the realtor dropped off a nice bottle of red to thank me for my cooperation. It was a nice gesture and I think I just may enjoy the bottle with dinner tomorrow night and then I can compose a long, rambling blog entry that makes little or no sense LOL.

Colleen and Joshua

My children are over for tonight and right now we are chillin' out watching "Hitch". It's a pretty good movie though it would be better suited as a "date" movie rather than a family one LOL. Will Smith is usually a safe bet when it comes to family entertainment and this movie is no exception.

There is an open house here this weekend so I'll be making myself scarce. It's all afternoon both days and I'm not to keen on looky loos invading my space. I'm most likely going to take the suite in their new place so I'll probably be moving before Christmas. It's not too far from here and it's a bigger brighter place. There is also a sort of lingering aura in this place. It's not really definable but there's something.

A Bug's Life

My place had to get fumigated yesterday. It seems my landlord's cats had some sort of flea commune living on them and they were starting to spread. Damn hippie fleas LOL. I never noticed them in here, and I wasn't too keen on the pesticides or whatever, but I guess I'm still left with the same amount of fleas and everyone is happy. Everyone that is, except the fleas.

Cranky Computer

My writing tool. My jukebox. My archive of previous lives. My connection to cyberspace. My post office. My little metal box which sits beneath my desk, has been acting like a little shit for the past few days. It's high time it was replaced, but a new unit will be costly. Around $1300 for what I want. Time to cut back on some non-essentials and put some dough aside.

Not much going on in my world lately. I've been getting out enjoying the sun while it still is around. Only another month or so before it will be monsoon season again LOL. The same people complaining about the heat now will be complaining about the rain.

My landlords have put the house up for sale :(

They want me to move into the suite in their new place. It's bigger and will cost more, but they're good people so I'll most likely be moving soon. I'll be able to get some new furniture to fill it too! I feel pretty good about moving, and I'm sure it will be a positive move. The new house is only about four blocks away so it's not like a major relocation.

Writer's Block

I had set aside this evening to try and get back to some writing. I can't seem to get started LOL. My mind is a well of bits and pieces, each time I pull up the bucket there is nothing of substance inside. Just like Brian Wilson LOL. A whole lot of almost. Enough already LOL.

Breakwater

Took the kids down to the breakwater today and we had a blast playing on the rocks and sand. There was a huge cruise ship leaving so we watched it slowly back out and take off. It was cool watching something that big maneuvering around. The weather was perfect and it was a really good time.

I didn't bother with the film tonight. Wasn't really my scene and it seemed to be too much effort for too little reward LOL.

Random Thoughts

My kids stayed over last night, so my place is filled with the aura of love this morning. Josh is already awake and playing his video game, and sleepy-head Colleen is still sawing logs LOL. We hung out, made dinner, and watched movies last night. Today I'm thinking we might head out to the breakwater, so long as the weather is agreeable. It's nice out right now but it could be very windy down there.

Football season arrives in just under four weeks!!! Time to make a little extra money LOL. I can't ever remember finishing a season losing money. Fantasy picks will be tough due to all the holdouts, but still lots of talent to choose from. Don't forget about Deuce in New Orleans. That O-Line looks sharp and big numbers are what I'm expecting. That's the only tip you'll get from me LOL. I'm well known for keeping my picks close to the vest, but with this blog thing I may yet make some of my bets available for those of you that are handicapped handicappers (You know who you are LOL).

Currently Playing - A Love Supreme - John Coltrane

This has to be one of my favorite pieces of music. It's perfect for a sunny Sunday morning with a large Timmy's and the paper. It's one of the "stranded on a deserted island" items I would choose. Music is a full bodied massage for the soul. Complete with the "happy ending" LOL.

I've been invited by some friends to attend a screening of "Marihuana: The Weed From Hell" tonight at the Cameron Bandshell in Beacon Hill Park. It will probably be worth the trip just to have a look at the colorful cast of characters that will assemble at such a film LOL. It's a 1936 government misinformational film and should be worth a laugh. I told them a was a "most likely" to go. Time to dig out the tie-dye LOL.

Deviation From Sleeping Patterns

I've found my sleeping patterns are way out of the norm for some reason lately. I'm up at four AM raring to go, and ready for a nap around three LOL. Makes it kind of hard to finish off the day at work.

Went golfing after work today with three friends. My friend Tim, who is a USGA professional shot a two under. It's fun just to sit back and watch something like that. It was my first time on the course in a couple of months, due to my elbow troubles. It didn't seem to be too bad as I was golfing, but it seems to be getting worse now that I'm relaxing. My game wasn't too bad, all things considered. The rust was definitely there but I was satisfied with my shots. A couple of pars, a couple of chances at bird, not too bad at all.

Not Quite Up To Snuff

At home from work early today. Not feeling at all like my usual chipper self LOL. It might have something to do with getting up at five and driving to Comox and back before noon LOL. I am sooooo tired. I will post tonight after I wake up LOL. Or early tomorrow morning, whichever.

Summer Sunday

It's been a slightly sedated summer Sunday. I've been outside a fair bit soaking up the sunshine, but also spent some time relaxing, watching "Animal House" in between dozing off LOL. Ate lots of good healthy food, and generally spent the day recharging my batteries. It's been a tough couple of weeks both physically and mentally. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow to get back some test results and hopefully get some answers. My elbows have been causing me quite a bit of discomfort for a long time now, and I finally decided to go get them checked out. For those who know me, you know what it takes to get me to seek medical attention LOL (Think camping LOL).

Spaghetti Files

Went for dinner tonight with my daughter, my son, my ex LOL, and five other kids to The Old Spaghetti Factory downtown. It went well, all things considered LOL. The kids all had fun and I enjoyed some yummy food. My ex was suprisingly normal LOL.

Jokes overheard at a nearby table during dinner;

1. Why does a man walk funny?

A: His hat is shiny

2. Why are basketballs round?

A: Because of the drawbridge.

I don't know why these are funny, but I find them quite hilarious LOL. The kid who was telling them had such a serious look on his face too. It made them all the more funnier.

My younger sister is in town tonight and she wants me to go have beer with her. I'm REALLY not into it, but it's been a few years since I've seen her so it's hard to say "no". A quick visit and maybe I can think of a reason to cut the visit short. I know this sounds kind of bad, but I'm really beat and my couch is screaming out my name LOL.

Weekend News

My Internet has gone down at home once again, thanks to those excellent folks over at Shaw. Thursday is the earliest they can come by. I wonder if they'll discount me for their service disruption LOL. Not bloody likely.

Took my daughter to see Avril Lavigne on Saturday at the new arena. All I can say about the Save-On Center is that it looks like they forgot to put the other half on top LOL. It's far to small for a growing city like Victoria, and it will outlive it's usefulness far sooner than the 50 or so million that it cost to build. The show itself was pretty much what I expected, a lot of screaming by a lot of young girls LOL. Lots of nice looking moms though LOL. Not that I noticed or anything LOL.

I haven't been feeling quite right lately, so I went to the doc today and they took soooooo much blood from me LOL. Damn vampires. Funny thing about doctors, they tell you not to worry about something so much, you end up worrying about how much they tell you to stop worrying LOL. No worries. They think I might have some sort of blood infection, but I guess we will see. The power of positive thinking.

Whatever Sticks

Just throwing words at the screen and seeing what sticks.

A walnut holds no significance with me.
A suicide bomber is really a homicide bomber.
Weather plays no favorites.
A lover is always beautiful when you watch them sleep.
The space between us all is relative.
All this nonsense doesn't make sense.
The biggest joy can come from the littlest thing.
Professional sports isn't about a game.
Intelligence shouldn't be assumed based on occupation.
Horses are born to run.
Who will you turn to in your darkest hour?
Things stick to my mind like gum to the bottom of a table.
A tidal pool can be a classroom.
To kill in the name of God is blasphemy.
Can you plan to be spontaneous?
In the end, everything is just energy.

Changes

I went out for a couple of beers with a girl I knew back in the day who was in town for a short bit. It has been about eight years since I've last seen her, and it was one of the most uncomfortable things I've experienced in a long time. She has turned into one the most obnoxious, self-centered, materialistic bitches I've met. I spent the majority of the time plotting my escape and I'm sure I had a blank, trapped look on my face LOL. It's strange how someone could change so much, but eight years is a long time. It makes me wonder how she perceived me LOL. I'm definitely not the man I was back then, but who ever is? We grow and evolve, sometimes not for the better. I know I am a lot prouder of who I am today, and that's what really counts.

Uneventful Day

Went to Vancouver on the first ferry and enjoyed a stress-free, uneventful day in the big city. Even the horrible, shitty traffic that normally comes with the trip was nowhere to be found. Got everything done in record time and made it back to the terminal for the two o'clock boat back. I'm not a huge fan of Vancouver, but days like today I can almost like it there LOL.

Holiday??What Holiday?

I was lucky enough to be volunteered to work both Sunday and Monday this so-called holiday weekend. It wasn't so bad, and it will sure reflect come payday LOL. I was supposed to have two guys show up today to help, but neither showed. One positive that happened was when I moved aside an old jukebox to plug in some tunes, I found a tiger eye pendant that I lost quite a long time ago. It was nice to have it returned to my space.
