55:44

I ran my first timed 10k around Elk lake this weekend. Timed in at 55:44. My goal was under an hour, so mission accomplished!! After I ran I found out that there are some muscles in my body I never knew I had LOL. My new goal is to bring my time under 45 minutes.

The Blueballers had a doubleheader split this weekend to run our record to an overwhelming 4-4. Overwhelmingly mediocre. LOL. It's not the record, it's the fun that counts. And fun is definitely in the cards when the 'Ballers play.

Took my kids to see "Over the Hedge" on Sunday night. It's a pretty good movie. Better that what I was expecting anyways. It's the old "fish out of water" story, with woodland creatures coming to suburbia in search of food, but it's entertaining and it was a hit with the kids.

See you when I see you.

Early Morning Rain

Once again I'm up at an ungodly hour for work LOL. It's 4:30 am and I'm heading up to Campbell River for the day. It's also raining, hence the title. And dark. Did I mention early?

Stanley Cup fever is running high now that the conference finals are under way. All of Canada are cheering for the lone Canadian entry left, the Edmonton Oilers. I'm not a huge fan of the Oilers but they are now the last chance to bring the cup back to the country where it rightfully belongs. Although after the Olympics and World Championships I guess you could say the cup belongs in Sweden LOL.

Baseball is still going strong with the Blueballers having an important doubleheader this weekend at Vic West Park. Games are at 12:00 and 1:30. The first game is against our arch-rivals, the Dt's. Good ball, cheap beer, what better way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon?

See you when I see you.

Victoria Day Long Weekend

The first "real" long week of the year has started. By "real" I mean the first one where the weather is supposed to co-operate. It actually hasn't officially started for be because for some reason unbeknownst to me, I volunteered to come in for a half a day. Must have been a flashback to when I drank LOL. So the weekend doesn't begin for about six more hours.

A combination of the Blueballers and the DT's have gone to Quadra Island this weekend for the annual ball tourney/piss-up. Good luck guys and gals!!! Remember, if you can't win the game at least drink them under the table. Play safe.

I've done the Elk Lake 10-k a couple of times now, though I haven't attempted to time myself. I'm somewhere in the 60-90 minute range without exerting too much. Sometime this coming week I'm going to bring my stopwatch and give it a go. I'd like to be under an hour before next year's race. That gives me lots of time LOL.

Kids are coming tomorrow morning. The Luxton Rodeo is this weekend and I'm sure they'll want to take in the midway. Those carny people sure are scary aren't they LOL. I remember riding what I am certain are the exact same rides back when I was a kid. I wonder what the life span of a carnival ride is? The same guy was probably blowing his cigarette smoke in my face as he was strapping me in as is doing it today. For that matter, I wonder what the life span for a carny is LOL? It surely doesn't sound like a glamorous occupation.

Anything else? Not really. Still haven't met anyone special, though not from lack of trying LOL. In a town where the rumored ratio of women to men is 5:1 there must be some body decent left LOL. I think there should be a color code or a secret sign that we could give each other to let our availability known beforehand. Maybe a bright yellow t-shirt that says "embarrassingly Single". LOL.

That's all I got for today, so I'm off to work. Everyone enjoy the long weekend and stay safe.

See you when I see you. Baron

A Rant

I'm an avid hiker of the various parks located in Victoria and the surrounding area. Today I'd like to rant a little about something I see everywhere that really gets under my skin. Litter. I can't go anywhere without seeing a Tim Horton's cup or a McDonald's bag. Is it that much trouble to put your shit in the proper receptacle? What part of you thinks it's OK to toss your crap wherever you bloody well please? It doesn't matter where you go, the litter is there. Enough already!! A clean planet is a happy planet. (exhale)

On a lighter note, LOL, I've been having a great deal of pain in one of my teeth lately and today I found out why. I'm in need of a major root canal. Nice. It's going to happen tomorrow morning at eight AM. What an excellent way to start the weekend. I'm so looking forward to it LOL.

See you when I see you.

10k

After seeing all the fun going on this past weekend regarding the Times-Colonist 10k run, I've decided to make my goal to run in this event next year. Not only run, but finish in a respectable time. I did a trial walk around the ten kilometer route at Elk Lake to judge the distance, and next week I'm going to begin running. Wish me luck LOL. I'll post my times.

See you when I see you.
