Been Awhile

Hi Folks,

It's been a long break between entries and for that you have my humblest apologies. Still not hooked up at home and it's hard to come into work after hours, etc. Anyhoo, here I am and there you are and here we are.

Went for a great hike last Saturday. Got up with the crack of dawn, grabbed a Timmy's, and drove out to Caleb Pike in the Highlands. It was foggy and there wasn't a noise to be heard. I hiked out to Holmes Peak and climbed above the fog. It was a delightful, sunny day above all the fog and I lay down on the mossy rocks and let the warmth fill me. Another hiking story from the past week, although not as peaceful. My friend Kelly and I went for a night hike on Tuesday out to Alyard Farm in East Sooke. We got to the parking lot and we could hear noises in the bush. Flashed the lights there, but couldn't see anything. Probably just a deer. As we were hiking, we could hear something in the bushes now and then. Still didn't think to much of it. We came to this huge field and started to walk across it. When we were about two-thirds of the way across, I flashed my light behind and there were two huge yellow eyes staring back at me. It was a huge cougar!! Needless to say we pretty much booked out of there ASAP. It would have to have been very hungry before it would attack two full grown men, but it was checking us out anyway. A little excitement to say the least.

Still in the process of moving. All packed up. Some stuff stored, some already moved, some still to go. It's not a lot of stuff, but it seems to be taking forever!!! Soon, Terry, soon LOL.

Don't know what else to tell ya. Kids are cool, I'm cool, life is still moving. So am I LOL. I've been spending a lot more time writing now that my computer isn't connected. Actually using it for what I first bought it for LOL. It's also still my stereo with 4000 some odd MP3's. Put it on random and let the music flow. You never know where it will take you LOL.

See you when I see you.

The Week That Was

The past week at work was crazy-ass busy and spent mostly on the road, culminating in a 20-hour horror show to Bowen Island LOL.

Left here at 4:30 in order to catch the seven o'clock ferry from Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay. Got there at 6:30 which would have been plenty of time for the seven boat. If there had only been a seven boat LOL!!! There was however, a six thirty boat, which we had the added pleasure of watching sail away LOL. The next one was at eight thirty, so two hours sitting in the parking lot. A sign of things to come!! Caught the eight thirty to Vancouver and got there at ten. Drove up the hill, turned around and drove back down to the terminal to catch the Bowen Island boat. Just missed the ten LOL, and had to wait another hour for the eleven. Finally got to the job around noon and worked for a grand total of ONE hour. Drove back to the Bowen Island terminal where we had another two hour wait for the three o'clock off the island. Got back to Vancouver at about three thirty and the long weekend traffic was backed up to the top of the hill. We decided in our wisdom that it made more sense to drive across Vancouver and catch the boat straight to Victoria rather than wait four hours for the seven out of Horseshoe Bay followed by an hour plus drive back down island. LOL, by the time we got to the other terminal we had to wait until the nine o'clock sailing. Whew!! I feel tired again just telling the story.

Helped my landlord move into the new place yesterday. He had lots of help so it didn't go too badly. Friends help you move, best friends help you move bodies LOL. Don't know where that came from, it something I heard somewhere. Got a look at my new suite, which I'm moving to the first of December. I can't believe how big it is, for such a cheap price. Must be because I'm such a great tenant LOL. Huge rooms, new laundry, full kitchen, lots of storage, everything included for $650. He shoots, he SCORES. LOL.

Colleen and Joshua are here this morning. We hung out last night, made pizzas, and watched the new "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". Not quite sure what we'll do today seeing as it's so shitty out. November in Victoria, exchange your tan for rust.

Currently Playing - 40 Years - Counting Crows

I was born in the jungle
With the sickening smell of cinnamon in the air
I was born in a white hole
And I can't believe the colors here today
They stalk on a circle
Well I've never been blessed with elephant memory
I'm riding a red line nowhere

If it takes 40 years for the gun to be paid for
If it takes 40 years I'll put the money away
If it takes 40 years to get the things that I need sir
If it takes 40 years I'll walk the thunder and the rain

I was born in a good home
Where the rising cost of raising children
Was not a factor
And you can't believe the things it does to me
I am filled with the white noise
Well I never did much of anything, anyway
Jump on a big train nowhere

If it takes 40 years for the gun to be paid for
If it takes 40 years I'll put the money away
If it takes 40 years to get the things that I need sir
If it takes 40 years I'll walk the thunder and the rain

I wanna buy me a good heart, and a conscience, maybe raise some children
I wanna get me a good wife, and God, and God, and God, and God
And I'll start me a good life, with a six-foot color television
I'll start me a new life somewhere

I was born on a warm night
On the right coast, southeastern America
Dead on arrival, but you can't believe the things you hear today
I'll fly me a white plane, over water, over blue and green and
Land in the ocean somewhere

If it takes 40 years for the gun to be paid for
If it takes 40 years I'll put the money away
If it takes 40 years to get the things that I need sir
If it takes 40 years I'll walk the thunder and the rain

See you when I see you.

In Flanders Field

In Flanders Fields

By: Lieutenant Colonel John McRae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

See you when I see you.

All Apologies LOL

I feel so bad for not updating my blog. Really, I do LOL. I have spent much of my free time this past week wandering around aimlessly in the rain. I love to hike off the beaten path in the chilly, damp November day, or evening for that matter. I will attempt to do a blog this evening, though I'm not promising anything special LOL.

See you when I see you.

Wednesday

Original title huh? My stupid Internet is down at home AGAIN...LOL. So I took advantage of the fact that I live close by and am blogging from work. I needed a few things and thought, what the hell.

Make a soul-flight to a place where you and a relative who is now dead used to meet together. Speak the words that you would have liked to say before death intervened. Listen to the words that your relative speaks to you. Thank and bless your relative.

This was a hard thing for me because I've been blessed with a family that just hasn't started dying yet LOL. All my aunts, uncles, and cousins are still kicking as well as all my immediate family. The closest I could come was the two sisters of mine that were stillborn six years before I was born. We had no place, and no real words either, but I hope they are doing well wherever they are.

See you when I see you.

Happy Samhain

Last night was Samhain, the turning of the Celtic New Year. I have a daily meditation book that is geared toward the Celtic spirit. Each day, LOL, or at least as often as I can, I will post the meditation as well as my interpretation of it. Just another friendly service that we offer our readers here at brilliantlyinsane.

Spend part of your day assessing your place in life: look at the unfinished. Assess your current spiritual position, scrutinize your motives, clarify your commitments; recognize and discard inappropriate patterns that no longer serve you.

My place in life is one of simple happiness. I am neither rich nor famous, nor do I desire this. LOL, well rich probably wouldn't be sooooo bad. My inappropriate patterns that no longer serve me have, for the most part, been long ago discarded. My motives and commitments are simple, to improve both my life experience as well as the experiences of those whose paths cross mine.

See you when I see you.
