Things I Seen A-Walkin'

I went for a short walk along West Bay Walkway tonight after dinner. Guess what I saw........

A) First, there was this Richard Simmons-type overtly gay man pushing a baby stroller with a stuffed moose inside. I shit you not!! To top it off, he was talking to said moose. (No doubt about something both "Fabulous" and Gorgeous".)

B) Some crack/meth head doing the nod right down in the heart of Songhees. He/she/it was sitting on a rock and nodding forward at such a ridiculous angle we were waiting for his/her head to bounce off the rocks.

C) On the way back, we passed some dude who actually had the needle in his arm, just starting to shoot up. That stuff just turns my stomach. I understand it's a disease and all that, but at least go somewhere away from the public. Not beside a busy walkway.

D) And to top it all off, the man with the stroller ran by the other way LOL. Still talking in that nowayyoucanbehetero falsetto. I wonder what the moose was named.

See you when I see you.

Summer Solstice

On this, the longest day of the year, an annual miracle occurs. At dawn, the first rays of the sun touch the hele-stone, the solitary stone that stands outside the great circle of Stonehenge. The miracle of the longest day is celebrated by peoples all over the world as the time of greatest light and blessedness. Tonight we will have the shortest night, the least darkness of the year, as the sun climbs to it's zenith in the heavens.

See you when I see you.

Father's Day

Today I had exactly what I wanted for Father's Day; my kids spending the day with me. We didn't do a whole lot, but then again we didn't need to. Just being with them was enough. Looking back on my own father, I know that although any man can be a father it takes that something extra to be a dad. My father was the perfect role model for how not to treat your children. It's my motivation in being the best parent I can to my kids.

Thanks for the great day Colleen and Joshua. You make me proud to call myself a dad. Thank you also Lindsey, for growing up into a fine young woman, showing me that I can have a positive influence. I love you all with all my heart.

See you when I see you.

Another week past

Hard to believe it's been a week already, but time's fun when your having flies. Or so said the frog. Anywho, that's my story and so is this.

On Saturday, Joshua and I took in the latest Disney/Pixar collaboration. "Cars" had it's moments but didn't live up to the hype. It's the typical feel-good story with the inevitable moral thrown in. If you go, make sure you don't jet out right at the ending as there are some hilarious bits during the credits.

No baseball all week until tonight with an important double header against those dirty, stinkin' DT's. They are a game and a half up on us, so a sweep tonight will move us into second. Should be an entertaining evening of ball at the Vic West Skydome.

See you when I see you.

Home of my own

My landlords have gone a motorin' around the U.S. for the next four months!! It will be like having a home of my own; without the bills. LOL, the way housing prices are in this city it may be my only chance. I'm definitely looking forward to the solitude. That and the Internet connection, LOL.

My friend Kelly and I are going to attempt another evening hike out to Alyard farm in Sooke tonight. This was the site of the infamous cougar sighting/stalking from last winter. The sun will be out a lot longer this time so it should be a good hike. I haven't been hiking much since the 10k run around Elk Lake. I guess I figured I had O.D.'d on the fitness and I should take it easy for a week or two.

Kids are coming tomorrow and I'm going to try like hell to keep them away from Buccaneer Days. They already know it's happening so the trick will be to direct their focus towards something more outdoorsy; and free. I'd rather spend the day in the woods then around them creepy carnies.

See you when I see you.

Blogger's Block

I am going through the longest bout of writer's block I can remember. If I ever manage to sit down for the sole purpose of writing, which is rare, nothing satisfying ever seems to be produced. Even this blog, once envisioned as the anonymous window through which I could expose myself to the world, hasn't been able to draw anything of substance out. As a matter of fact, this may well be the longest I've wrote about a subject all year. LOL.

Brian Wilson - Barenaked Ladies

Drove downtown in the rain, nine-thirty on a Tuesday night,
Just to check out the late night record shop.
Call it impulsive, call it compulsive, call it insane,
But when I'm surrounded I just can't stop.

It's a matter of instinct, it's a matter of conditioning,
It's a matter of fact.
You can call me Pavlov's dog.
Ring a bell and I'll salivate. How'd you like that?
Dr. Lendy tell me you're not just a pedagogue,
'Cause right now I'm

Lying in bed just like Brian Wilson did.
Well I'm lying in bed just like Brian Wilson did.

So I'm lying here just staring at the ceiling tiles,
And I'm thinking about what to think about.
Just listening and relistening to Smiley Smile,
And I'm wondering if this is some kind of creative drought,
Because I'm,

Lying in bed just like Brian Wilson did.
Well I'm lying in bed just like Brian Wilson did.

And if you want to find me I'll be out in the sandbox,
Wondering where in the hell all the love has gone.
Playing my guitar and building castles in the sun,
And singing "Fun, Fun, Fun".

Lying in bed just like Brian Wilson did.
Well I'm lying in bed just like Brian Wilson did.

I had a dream that I was three hundred pounds,
And though I was very heavy,
I floated 'til I couldn't see the ground
I floated 'til I couldn't see the ground
Somebody help me, I couldn't see the ground
Somebody help me, I couldn't see the ground
Somebody help me, because I'm

Lying in bed just like Brian Wilson did.
Well I'm lying in bed just like Brian Wilson did.

Drove downtown in the rain nine-thirty on a Tuesday night,
Just to check out the late night record shop.
Call it impulsive, call it compulsive, call it insane,
But when I'm surrounded I just can't stop.
