Dereliction of Duty

I looked back on my blog this morning and realized I've only posted twice this month. I guess I've been either too busy to post or too boring to post about. LOL, I think I'll stick with the former. I've found that once I cancelled my Internet @ home, I rarely find myself sucked into the black hole of cyberspace. There's so much life going on outside!!

The Blueballers opened the Tudor House season with an impressive showing last weekend at the Icebreaker tournament. A quarter-final appearance from a team that at the beginning of the weekend wasn't supposed to be much of a threat. LOL, ask the "A" division Storm how much of a threat we are!!! It looks to be a promising season in Vic West.

On the other hand, (You have five other fingers) the Teamworks squad of the PCL is going through some early season struggles. We are now 0-4 and have been on the receiving end of a couple of less than flattering scores. I'll spare our team the embarrassment of seeing the scores printed here LOL. Suffice to say there is some work to be done if we are going to compete come playoff time.

Speaking of playoffs, the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs are now in full swing. No Toronto and no Vancouver kind of takes some of the interest away, but being Canadian I still gotta watch. My prediction: San Jose vs. New Jersey in the final with the Sharks taking it in six. As much as I would like to see a Calgary-Ottawa final, I don't think it's going to happen.

See you when I see you. (Hopefully on a more regular basis LOL)

Assorted Stories

In the time since my last post life has gone on. Nothing of great importance has happened, just life in general. Slo-pitch season is in full swing, with my PCL team already off to a spectacular 0-2 start. We got killed the first game 14-3, and dropped the second game 12-8. Personally, my stats aren't that bad. I've started off 5 for 6 at the plate and my fielding has been adequate. The Blueballers begin play with an icebreaker tournament at Vic West Park this weekend.

Hiking has continued with a couple of long, and at times a little scary trips. Got stuck on the side of Mt. Finlayson last weekend when a friend and I decided to attempt to scale the steep face without benefit of any equipment. There was quite a few hairy spots, and after we'd made it to the summit we decided that this wasn't too smart and would not be done again LOL.

Gave myself a present this week by buying an MP3 player to carry all my tunes with me. I bought a 30 gig Samsung for $500. It sounds just great and it holds all of my music files plus has the ability to hold video and digital photos. Every once in a while it's nice to spoil yourself LOL.

Kids are doing great. Easter weekend was spent quietly around the house. I made a decision this year that the true meaning of Easter doesn't include chocolate (much to the kid's chagrin LOL). So the bunny didn't stop at our house, instead we celebrated just spending time together.

See you when I see you.

April Arrives

It's hard to believe, but April has already arrived. Ball practices are in full swing, no pun intended. This season I'm making up for not playing the last two years by playing for two teams. I'm on the Blueballers in the Tudor House league, and the Lucky 7's in the PCL. Both teams show potential, and the best part is there are no schedule conflicts as far as games go.

Work is still the same old, although there have been preliminary rumblings of raises for all in the near future. Yippee!!! Maybe somewhere tropical this fall LOL. Mexico here I come !!!

Saw an amazing movie this weekend called "Off the Map" starring Sam Elliott, Joan Allen, and Valentina de Angelis. It's a beautiful story about a family struggling to come to grips with the emotional draining of depression. Very well written and acted. If you can find it, it's well worth the value of the rental. One of the best movies I've seen in a while.

On the other side of the movie coin, I also saw "Domino" this weekend. If you like your action movies to be poorly acted with highly improbable scenarios, then this will be right up your alley. It had it's better moments, but all in all it was two hours wasted. I've got "The Constant Gardener" for tonight and I'm certainly hoping for better results.

See you when I see you.
