Vancouver & Musical Notes

Vancouver turned out to be 15 hour excursion into driving HELL!! There are definitely some people who should consider giving up their driving priviledges for the greater good of humanity LOL. I spent almost as long driving as I did actually working.

My elimination song playlist is now down to 1677 songs. Last time I updated it, it was at 2300!! Four of the Fleetwood Mac songs were eliminated, "Gold Dust Woman" at 2031, "Second Hand News" at 2024, "Don't Stop" at 1701, and "You Make Loving Fun" just played now at 1679. I estimate that the playlist will be finished sometime in the fall. Stay tuned for further updates.

Clips from "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"

Harold: I want that.
Kumar; What? A Hot Dog Heaven super chili cheese dog?
Harold: No. I want that feeling. The feeling that comes over a man when he gets exactly what he desires. I need that feeling!
Kumar: Are you saying what I think you're saying?
Harold: We gotta go to White Castle.
Kumar: YES! YES! I knew you had it in you dude!

Harold: Did Doogie Howser just steal my fucking car?
Kumar: Yes......I think he did.
Harold: Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!

Harold: How is that not the worse news?
Kumar: The laptop situation really only affects you, whereas the White Castle situation affects us both equally.

Kumar: What kind of hippie are you?
Hippie: What kind of hippie am I? Man, I'm a business hippie, I understand the concept of supply and demand.

As I was typing that out, another of the songs I chose, "Years Go By" from Jeremy Fisher played at 1676 LOL. That makes 3 of the eighteen in the span of 25 songs. Eight down and ten to go.

See you when I see you.

Here and Gone Again

Back from Gig Harbor today, and off to Vancouver tomorrow. Here and gone again, there and back again. I don't like driving in Vancouver too much, there are even more bad drivers over there than in Victoria. People drive like idiots, not realizing big trucks can't stop like they can. Oh well, it's only for the day.

Gig Harbor was nice, except for my encounter with some green prime rib. I was eating prime rib at a diner last night, got about halfway through it, when I turned my plate to atack it from a different angle. When the light hit it from that angle, it suddenly took on a green sort of sheen. Needless to say, there was no more meat eaten that night LOL. Thankfully I didn't get sick from it, though I felt a little off that night and was asleep before nine.

Early to bed, early to rise. Up at 5 for the first boat.

See you when I see you.

A gig to Gig

On my way to Gig Harbour tomorrow morning for a couple of days of work. Just the start of a few hectic weeks ahead. Heading over on the first ferry and I don't expect to be back until Friday, and I've got to be in Vancouver on Saturday. LOL, there should be air miles for trucks!!

One day after winning big, the team crashed back to earth tonight. Not enough players due to various excuses, and those that showed up didn't really show up to play LOL. We got waxed by a 15-9 score. It's still ball, so it's still fun, but it's much better when you win LOL. I went 2/5 with a double, a run, and a couple of ribbies. No more games until next Monday when the doubleheader schedule kicks in. I love playing doubles!!! Two games in one night.

Early to rise, means I must close my eyes.

See you when I see you.

First Pitch

Had a great round of golf today in the hot sun. Hit 8/9 greens in reg, and all nine fairways. Finally got the Big Bertha to hit true, just like it's supposed to LOL. Had four pars, a double and four singles for a 38. Best round of the year so far.

The baseball season opened for me tonight, and just as I figured, we kicked some butt. Not sure what the final was, but it had to be around 22-9. Everyone was hitting great, and our fielding was good, despite the sun directly in the eyes. Yours truly went 4/4 with a triple, 3 runs scored, and five RBI's. Not too bad, even though it is slowpitch LOL.

Have to get ready for Gig Harbor tomorrow at work. I'm going down Wednesday, back Thursday, Vancouver Saturday, L.A. next week, and now Santa Fe right after LOL. No rest for the wicked, or me for that matter.

See you when I see you.

Ball Season, Part deux

Seeing as I can't count on team #1 to be able to actually produce a team, I've opted to go with team #2. Starting tomorrow at 11 at Vic West Park, I'll suit up for the Blueballers LOL. What they lack in talent, they more than make up for in spirit. It should be fun, though I think wins will be pretty hard to come by. I know most of the players on the team through various ball leagues, so it should be a good fit. Stay tuned for game details.

Other than that, my Internet went down for the majority of the day and gave me the chance to watch one of the movies I've bought recently. I watched "13 Moons", starring Steve Buscemi and a score of other character actors. It was an interesting story, as are a majority of the unheards that can be picked up used at any video store. Some of the best movies I've seen, Spun, Owning Mahoney, American Splendor, have all come from the bargain bin at Rogers LOL.

Tonight I've got "The Manchurian Candidate" starring Denzel. Not that I expect make it anywhere near the ending...LOL

Love Thy Mother

The mother in question is Mother Earth. Not that you shouldn't love your mother, but...Well...Never mind. Today is Earth Day, a day to focus a little more of your energy on your surroundings. Take a good look around you and marvel at the wonder we call nature. Everything delicately interconnected to form our planet, our home.

The softball season was supposed to start tonight, but due to a lack of enthusiasm among players, was called. There is nothing worse than making the effort to be there on time, and have so many people not even bother. Plus the other team and umpire are all waiting, looking at us like it's our fault LOL. Too bad, it would have been a great night for a game.

I was looking back through my blog, and I realized how therapeutic it's been for me to be able to let some creativity go forth in a forum such as this. For those of you that are curious, you can start at blogspot.com , and it's so easy to set up and do. Send me your site names and we can swap ideas, etc.

See you when I see you.

4:20 on 4/20

Today is 4/20, which in certain circles is a pro-marijuana rally day. The term 4:20 has become synonymous with smoking weed.

Where did the term 4:20 originate?

A group known as "The Waldos" claim to have originated 420 in San Rafael in 1971. The group began meeting every day at 4:20 PM after school and eventually began to use 420 as a code for marijuana so they could talk about pot in front of their parents and teachers. It became so popular so quickly because San Rafael was home to the Grateful Dead and 420 spread throughout the Deadhead community.

Burn One Down - Ben Harper

Let us burn one
From end to end
And pass it over
To me my friend
Burn it long, we'll burn it slow
To light me up before I go

If you don't like my fire
Then don't come around
'Cause I'm gonna burn one down
Yes I'm gonna burn one down

My choice is what I choose to do
And if I'm causing no harm
It shouldn't bother you
Your choice is who you choose to be
And if your causing no harm
Then you're alright with me

If you don't like my fire
Then don't come around
'Cause I'm gonna burn one dwon
Yes I'm gonna burn one down

Herb the gift from the earth
And what's from the earth
Is of the greatest worth
So before you knock it try it first
You'll see it's a blessing
And not a curse

If you don't like my fire
Then don't come around
'Cause I'm gonna burn one down
Yes I'm gonna burn one down

Plagiarism Piece Parodied

I received an e-mail today from a friend regarding my blog. It stated that my blog "sucked" when it was serious. It would "suck, though suck less" if I tried to be funny instead. Now, bon ami, seeing as you are the one person in this world I would consider an authority on the principles of suck, I will redo yesterdays post.

I am not: A real doctor, but I play one on TV

I love: Getting coloring books for Christmas

I hate: The taste of the crayons that come with them

I hope: This rash goes away

I crave: The smell of Cheerios

I regret: Trying to play with the wasps

I cry: Whenever someone mentions "Eskimos"

I care: Enough to give you a kidney

I always: Lift the seat

I long: For those peaceful, worry-free, Reagan years

I feel alone: When I'm by myself

I listen: To Celine Dion when nobody's around

I hide: When the Witness's come calling

I drive: A Titleist

I sing: Strictly for your amusement

I dance: Like Fred Astaire..........On mushrooms

I write: Whatever the aliens tell me to

I breathe: So there will be less for you

I play: Special games with my plants

I miss: Laughing until whatever I'm drinking shoots out my nose

I search: For the last thing on the Internet

I learn: Right after I could have used what I learn

I feel: That nothing good can come from"Military Aid"

I know: How they get the Caramilk into the bar

I say: Things I am thinking, out loud (Even when I shouldn't)

I succeed: At my whole alphabet, from A to R

I fail: To see the importance of reality TV

I dream: Let's just say......Vividly LOL

I wonder: Whatever happened to "Culture Club"?

I want: To live in a world without mullets

I worry: When I use a public restroom

I wish: I could lick my eyebrows

I have: Every intention of finishing this stupid list

I give: Bad advice to those who deserve it

I fight: The voices in my head every day

I wait: At the airport for my ship to come in

That's it, that's all, that's everything. If you don't like it, remember, you asked for it, amigo. Any other feedback is welcome. Even the "suck" ones LOL.

See you when I see you.

Plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery LOL. I occasionally go surfing amongst the blogs, looking for interesting things to pilfer, copy, etc. for my blog. I am not: Shy

I love: My Children

I hate: Litterbugs

I hope: For A Kinder World

I crave: Coffee In The Morning

I regret: Hanging On Too Long

I cry: During Sad Movies

I care: About People

I always: Do What I Can To Help

I long: To See My Kids More Often

I Feel Alone: When I First Wake Up

I listen: To My Own Beat

I hide: My loneliness Well

I sing: Very Badly LOL

I dance: The Sidewalks Clean

I write: To Express Myself

I breathe: Out Of Necessity

I play: Golf And Pool

I miss: Closeness

I search: For The Lesson

I learn: Every Day

I feel: On The Verge

I know: Many Things

I say: Damn Near Anything LOL

I succeed: In Making People Happy

I fail: At Many Things

I dream: Of A Happier Time

I wonder: About Fate And Karma

I want: Contentment

I worry: About My Children

I wish: For True Love

I have: A Lot To Be Thankful For

I give: My Best

I fight: For My Beliefs

Kids have come visiting

My kids have come over tonight for a sleepover, for the first time since I returned from Vegas. We went and tried out the Esquimalt Pool for the first time. It was a pretty good pool, though a little small. We sure had a blast though!! I sure love them, and I'm happy they came over.

I won a hundred bucks yesterday, so I did what you are supposed to do with free money, I went out and got hammered LOL. Don't remember much about the night except I started at the Gorge Pointe, and I woke up at home. In between is anyone's guess, although I didn't get one of those "Boy, were you ever drunk last night" phone calls.

Golfed Olympic View today, hangover and all. Shot the lights out for the front nine, and then reverted to horrible golf for the back nine. Ended up with a score over a hundred, but it was a beautiful day for golf.

Zephyr Carried

I drank a lot of beer tonight
And now I don't feel quite as right
I don't remember much inbetween
But I'm home, and safe, and that's all that counts
Lots of music was played tonight
I sang a lot and sang some more
Now I just got up from the floor
To type about it in my blog
Though parts are still lost in the fog
Original this might not be
But it's the best you'll get from me
Goodnight princes and princesses
I'll see you soon tomorrow
When you are with me, I forget all about sorrow

See you when I see you.

Vibrational Transmissions

The energy that is the planet courses through me
Vibrational transmissions, for which I am a receptor
Eagerly allowing the waves to engulf me
Carress my mind with their infinite molecules of power
Helping to create the better man

Thought I would post in the AM to see how the creative juices flow B.C. (Before Coffee). The screen is a little hazier this time of the morning LOL. It looks to be another gorgeous day here in Paradise. We are so blessed to live in such a great climate. Too bad that today is got to be spent at work, it looks like a good day to be hiking in the woods somewhere.

Watched an interesting movie last night, "Napoleon Dynamite", another truimph of the underdog movie. It was done fairly, and though I wouldn't watch it again, I still recommend it. The message of "never give up", no matter how well-used, is always a good motto to follow.

Time for my Timmies and go to my Jay Oh Bee. So I will..............

Nothing, Really

Not much to say, but I'll still try to say it.

Why does age become a factor in compatibility? You're as old as you feel, no matter what the number. I think age is irrelevant. Then again, I'm no expert.

Why do little, seemingly meaningless bits of trivia stick in our minds, yet hugely important, potentially life-altering things slip by? On some other level are the importance of things reversed? Are we truly guided by fate? Or is all this some tree-huggin', granola-eatin', new age hippy crap LOL.

Where is this post going? Another one of my aimless wanderings around the dusty, seldom lighted, areas of my mind? Or something deeper, yet more subtle? Will the thread of thought be pursued, or just left to wither?

Wither it is.

See you when I see you.

Fringed in Velvet Chains

Unlike anything written, like everything ever said.
Just a glimpse of something that's not really there.
An angel or a stranger?
They are one and the same.
Once upon a time, I too wore a name.
Proudly, like a badge of courage, honor.
Dreams of floating fish, and lizard lakes.
A lifetime linked by past mistakes.
Fringed in velvet chains, mind yearns to be set free.
To explode outward in infinite potential.
Furious fingers try to catch it while it lingers.
Vanishing like a whiff of smoke.
Visible, though impossible to grasp.
I woke up beside you this morning.
Then I woke up beside myself.
And it's time to sleep again.

See you when I see you.

Karol Wojtyla

I'm back from the belly of the beast, Las Vegas. And though I've many stories to tell, I'd like to devote this space to an event which is now old news. I'd like to give my thoughts on the passing of one of our generations special people, Karol Wojtyla, Pope John Paul II.

I wouldn't call myself religious in the Roman Catholic sense, but I do subscribe to the theory of some higher power. The Pope was a man who transcended the borders of different religions and brought many of us closer to "God" through his unwavering faith in us. The world was a better place when he was alive, and I for one am sorry he is gone. Giovanni Paolo Santo.
