Reality??

Ever get the feeling that nothing in this world is real, it's just your perceived reality?? Kind of like "The Matrix" ?? Everything we see is just what our brains are telling our eyes is there. Just collections of atoms placed into shapes. At the basic level, a person is no different than the pizza box on the table in front of me, with the exception of a soul.

What is a soul exactly?? It can't be physically seen, smelt, heard, or touched, yet it is accepted by most without questions. The same with the concepts of God, Heaven, and Hell, but that is a topic for another time. We assume the soul is real because without it, we're just another bag of bones. Where did it originate?? Is it the product of a meeting of religious leaders, much in the same way "The Bible" was drafted, or is it based on some long forgotten myth which was originally based upon some form of truth. It is said the possibility of souls, Heaven, and Hell is what keeps many people from suicide. They are not willing to take the chance that there may actually be an end to the means.

No hidden messages, just a meandering of the mind.

The body is an amazing instrument

The human body, to me, is the single most amazing things on this planet. The complexity of all those atoms joining to make a being capable of all the things we are is incredible. From our senses like sight and sound, to the way we are evolving.......amazing.

I don't know who has it right; the scientists or the creationists, all I know is it never ceases to suprise me what we are capable of. Both good and bad. I look at how far we've come in the western world, yet some people still judge others based on skin color or religion.

So far we've come................yet.............

The Phoenix

It's back. For better or for worse, it's back. The meandering ramblings of a forty-something guy from the left coast of Canada. I'd completely forgot that I had ever blogged, and this site had faded into some dark recess of my brain waiting until now to resurface. Time will tell if this is a good thing.

Baby steps LOL.

All for now

Icebreakers and the Titanic

The official Tudor House League icebreaker was this past weekend. Everybody's favorite team, the Blueballers, represented themselves well with a run all the way to the "D" division finals, where they were outlasted 11-5 by those BMO Bandits. The hi-light of the weekend had to be our elimination win over our arch-rivals the DT's. It was an extra inning thriller, capped off by Carrie's towering home run over the head of left fielder George. Way to go girl!!!!

Took the kids down to the museum to see the Titanic exhibition. It was well worth the trip, and the twenty-five dollars. Your given a boarding pass as you enter, and at the end of the exhibit, you're able to match your name up to the passenger list to see if you survived or not. I didn't make it, although my wife and two daughters did. Both Josh and Colleen survived, although Colleen was left a widow. It was an amazing exhibit, with many interesting things brought up from nearly two miles below the sea. There were actual parts of the ship, as well as some artifacts from the passengers. It was definitely worth a second look when I return.

Speaking of returning, it is 5:30 on Saturday morning and that can only mean one thing. It's another trip stateside to San Diego. As much as it's my favorite place outside of home, I'm not really into this trip. It's going to be a long one. It's great financially, but a bit draining spiritually. Nine days in a whole different way of life. A little more hectic than I'd like.

See you when I see you.

How Time Flies

Wow!! It's hard to believe a month has gone by since my last entry. Time flies when you're having fun.........or something like that LOL.

Went to the interior for a week of work and golf a couple of weeks ago. Golfed Oliver, Osoyoos, and Christina Lake with mixed results. More good than bad though!!!!!!

Heading back down to San Diego in a couple of weeks for work. Right after I move myself. My current place is being renovated, so I'm out on the street for the next 6-7 months. I've got a new place up on the top of Topaz hill, with a great view of the city. It's only a bachelor, but it will do for the short-term.

Kids are doing absolutely great. Josh got pretty much straight A's on his last report card, and Colleen's was just as impressive. I'm so proud of them and all they accomplish.

See you when I see you.
